Shei Raate Raat Chhilo Purnima | Kishore Kumar | Indo French Singing Sundays cover
Pauline picked up this Kishore Kumar classic in an hour yesterday, and we decided to record a quick cover of it for all of you during our little weekend off. Also realised how much we were missing our Sunday singing routine. It's really been our favourite way of connecting with each other and YOU, while rediscovering the rich heritage of Indian music. Let's try and keep at it no matter if there is a lockdown or not, shall we

Shei Tumi - Ayub Bachchu Tribute | Indo-French Singing Sundays | Pauline & Meghdut
#ayubbachchu #lrb #cover #indofrench This week for Indo-French Singing Sundays, Pauline and I decided to take a trip down memory lane and cover some good old LRB from Bangladesh. A hauntingly beautiful tune written by Ayub Bachchu, this song has been an integral part of our childhoods no matter which Bengal you're from. We miss you Ayub Bachchu!

Prithibita Naki Chhoto Hote Hote / Bheegi Bheegi | Mohiner Ghoraguli Cover | Pauline & Meghdut
Last time when Pauline sang in bangla, we chose our favourite Fossils song. A lot of you said, why didn't we try Mohiner Ghoraguli as they are truly the reference for rock music in Bengal and a significant part our childhoods. So here it goes - not just in bangla but here's Kolkata's favourite French girl singing a bit in Hindi as well. Prithibita Naki Chhoto Hote Hote by Mohiner Ghoraguli. Our humble tribute to the force of nature that was Gautam Chattopadhyay. N.B. Still blows my mind that she picked up the whole song in basically one afternoon. What a born rockstar, this girl.

Je Veux - Zaz Cover | Pauline & Meghdut | Indo-French Singing Sundays
Sunday Live with Mr. Guitalele and Ms. Bag of Bangles - this is Je Veux by Zaz. We had such a blast playing this that we decided to share it with you all as well. P.S. For anybody wondering what this song means, here's the English translation of the chorus: "I want love, joy and cheerfulness Your money won't buy me happiness I just want to die with a hand on my chest Let's go together discover my freedom Forget all your stereotypes" Love, joy an cheerfulness, that's all we need during the lockdown!

Eita Tomar Gaan | Chandrabindoo | Pauline & Meghdut | Indo-French Singing Sundays
#chandrabindoo #banglagaan #eitatomargaan #indofrench After a few weeks of hiatus we decided to have a gaan'er aashor once again, and this time it was a music + bangla language lesson for Pauline with some eternally relevant Chandrabindoo (চন্দ্রবিন্দু). Very few musical artists / bands have had as much of an effect on me growing up, so it was imperative that I share the experience of listening to this song for the first time with her. Needless to say, she's fallen head over heels in love with the melody and the lyrics.

Aaro Ekbaar (Fossils) | Pauline and Meghdut | 33 | Quarantine Sessions
Pauline tried a Bangla song for the first time and of course it had to be Aaro Ekbaar by Fossils (been priming her for years by playing it in the car on road trips, taking her to see them live and constantly declaring them as THE reference for Bangla Rock). P.S. Never have you ever heard a French person singing a Fossils song, I bet. Guess this is why this cover became an overnight viral sensation on Facebook with the Fossils frontman Rupam Islam sharing it himself, alongwith thousands of bangla rock lovers. Love, hugs and gratitude Pauline and Meghdut aka your favourite Indo-French couple.

Adorer Nouka | Mr. Mitter ft. Meghdut | Quarantine Sessions
Adorer Nouka - Chandrabindoo If you've grown up Kolkata in the '90s, this song probably has a special place in your heart. Rajarshi Cocco Mitter has reimagined and rearranged the song beautifully and I have tried to sing it somehow. Also don't think I would have ever had the courage to do this had it not been for his constant encouragement. I see now why his students love him so much. What an amazing musician. Pleasure working on this with you Cocco.
